Every year, MWC sets the tone for where the telecom industry is heading. This year, the message was loud and clear: the era of legacy BSS is over. Operators and MVNOs are done patching together outdated systems and waiting months to launch a new price plan. The industry wants to move fast and it’s looking for the tools to do it.
That’s exactly the conversation we came to Barcelona to have. At our booth in Hall 7 (Stand 7B5), we welcomed hundreds of innovators, operators, and decision-makers who are ready to stop managing problems and start driving growth. The energy on the show floor was unlike anything we’ve seen before: not just curiosity, but urgency.
The highlight of the week? Our live CleverAI demo. While other booths filled their walls with AI buzzwords and “coming soon” slide decks, we ran a working product in real time. Visitors challenged us with their toughest scenarios; unclear roaming charges, mid-month bundle changes, complaints tangled across invoicing, provisioning, and usage data. CleverAI pulled up full customer context, identified the root cause, and formulated a resolution including applicable credits. In seconds. The reaction was always the same: “Wait, it actually solves these?”
It does. And the reason is straightforward: CleverAI operates from a single, fully integrated BSS platform. Not five fragmented vendor systems. That integration is what makes the difference between a demo that impresses and software that actually works in production today, not next year.
Away from the booth, our partner Karsten took the stage at the Netherlands Pavilion. He addressed a challenge that resonates across the entire industry: the stranglehold of legacy BSS on speed-to-market. In a world of rapid 5G rollouts and IoT expansion, the operators who win will be the ones who can launch new propositions in hours, not months. Karsten shared how CleverMobi is helping service providers do exactly that; shedding technical debt and regaining the agility they need to compete. The session sparked great questions and even better conversations afterwards.
Looking back at the week, three things stood out. First: the industry is genuinely ready to move. Second: real, working AI is far more powerful than any keynote promise. And third: the conversations we started in Barcelona are just getting started. The operators we met aren’t waiting for next year’s show to act and neither are we.
